🎖 ️ Last Alert / Red Alert (TurboGrafx-CD) – Over-the-Top Action With Glorious Cheese! 💥
Today we’re going full military melodrama with Last Alert, a run-‘n-gun, top-down shooter that delivers explosive gameplay and some of the most gloriously overacted voice work in TurboGrafx-CD history. Released in 1990 and developed by SETA, Last Alert (known as Red Alert in Japan) is a cult favorite thanks to its mix of arcade-style action and CD-powered storytelling.
You play as Guy Kazama, a one-man army tasked with stopping the evil terrorist organization Force Project before they unleash global chaos. The game is structured like a mission-based campaign, complete with cinematic cutscenes, voice-acted briefings, and plenty of explosions, gunfire, and ridiculous dialogue.
💣 Why Last Alert is a cult classic:
Fast-paced, top-down shooting with a variety of weapons and mission types
Voice acting so bad it’s good — pure TurboGrafx-CD cheese
Over-the-top story full of betrayals, explosions, and epic one-liners
Rockin' CD-quality soundtrack that fuels the action
RPG elements like leveling up, earning ranks, and equipping new gear
Feels like a playable 80s action movie with anime flair
Last Alert may not have the tightest controls or deepest mechanics, but it more than makes up for it with sheer personality and energy. Whether you’re here for the wild missions or the legendary voice acting (“Nooooooo! My beautiful base!!”), it’s an experience you won’t forget.
