Yes, a CD console game in 1989. NEC nailed that early and it's a shame they didn't get to flaunt that a little harder.

This is the perfect kind of game for it, too...well, at least if you lived in Japan. Supposedly, their voice cast was favorably reviewed whereas this version is...well...

Could you imagine what would happen if Kojima created a CD based Metal Gear game in this era? Look at what he did with Snatcher. Unfortunately, I can only imagine based on what I'm seeing here, because it LOOKS like it's a Metal Gear clone but it's really not. It's a run and gun objective based shooter with experience levels and basic, but well produced, cutscenes. You do advance to better weapons like a spread gun later on, but it's about as bland a shooter as it looks. It's very easy and repetitive. Great for a casual playthrough on a good sound system, but not the kind of thing you'd play twice.
