The name Kaede comes from the Japanese meaning "maple tree".
Kaede transformation ability is a reference to the Super Saiyan state in Dragon Ball series, and has been likened to Rock Howard since the latter's first appearance; Terry at some point in a crossover even mistakes Kaede for Rock once by this proxy.
