Laura Fernanda Zúñiga Ávila: Tuluní for solo viola
Tuluní for solo viola was composed by Laura Fernanda Zúñiga Ávila in July 2020 as a part of the Curtis Young Artist Summer Program (YASP).
Laura's words about Tuluní,
"Tuluní is the name of one important river in Colombia because there
happened two important events, the first, it had been witness of
violence for guerrilla armed forced and paramilitaries and also was
recognized for one of the first spaces where celebreated a transgender
carnival in Colombia, giving visibility in a society which judge every
behaviour that are different from theirs, being violent against people
who want to be recognize.
A river is composed by water, sometimes vehement, sometimes serene,
for this reason I choose as my principal theme, one important Cuban
sing in homage of Oshun, the god of rivers."
