LESSON: The How to Turn Mistakes into Amazing Advantages
You can't get through the day without making mistakes.
Maybe you:
Get up late.
Get a time wrong.
Make the wrong order.
A mistake does not become an error until you refuse to correct it. So there is always a space where we can learn something.
Mistakes are:
To be expected - in fact, you need them ... we all need them.
To be respected - in fact, they point us in the right direction.
To be inspected - in fact, we can grow as we analyse them.
To be corrected - in fact, they help us choose the right direction.
Aside from knowing this, we should also remember:
* Talk to other people
Friends, relatives, anyone you trust. Talking releases some of the discomforts. Your family and friends should be able to help you let yourself off the hook. Communication is why we exist and we need to share our feelings to help others to help us.
* Get over your mistakes ... other people will
Unless you have hurt someone really badly. And in these cases, if you’ve sincerely apologized and genuinely attempted to make it up, accept the consequences and try to move on. “To forgive is divine” but not all of us humans can do it.
It is always good to remind yourself that shame and embarrassment are, like most emotions, temporary. Both the physiological and the emotional components will move on. Do what you can to manage them while they are present.
Then you need time.
It is a slow fade.
But before too long, you’ll just stop feeling so bad.
