This is my 7th lesson on how to play the Kinnor - the ancient Jewish Lyre, once played by King David, & by my very own, very ancient, VERY cool Levite ancestors...over 2000 years ago, in the Temple of Jerusalem!!

In this lesson, I'm going to show all you lovely "Levite Wannabes" out there, how to play one of the most famous of ALL Jewish songs; "HEVENU SHALOM ALEICHEM". The transiteration from Hebrew, and the translation into English of the words of this song is as follows:

"Hevenu shalom aleichem,
hevenu shalom aleichem,
hevenu shalom aleichem,
hevenu shalom, shalom
shalom aleichem."

"We brought peace unto you,
we brought peace unto you,
we brought peace unto you,
we brought peace, peace
peace upon you."

This beautiful traditional Jewish song, is in the melodic minor mode - a musical mode that goes way back to Biblical times, as can be heard in some the ORIGINAL music of the Psalms, as deciphered by Suzanne Haik-Vantoura.

This truly magnificent 3000 year old music of the Bible can now also be heard on Youtube! John Wheeler, (a leading expert on the simply monumental musical discovery made by Suzanne Haik-Vantoura), runs the Youtube Channel "teamim", which is dedicated to bringing this music back to life - before the fantastic musical discovery made by Suzanne Haik-Vantoura, this hauntingly beautiful music, composed 3000 years ago in the time of King David, was thought to be lost forever, following the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem by the Roman Legions under Titus, almost 2000 years ago, in 70AD...

In 2007, this music can now be heard - once more...

In "Havenu Sahlom Aleichem", the Kinnor is tuned in the MELODIC(NOT HARMONIC - AS I WRONGLY SAID IN THIS VIDEO!!) minor scale (discussed in my 1st lesson):

DE(tonic)F#GABCDE(tonic)F#

The notes of the melody are:

EEGB,GF#F#E,EGB high E,CBBA,ABCB,F#B,F#F#G,

F#GABBBBBAGF#E (REPEAT)
