Are you a language learner, language teacher, or parent who just wants their child to read more? In this review video find out why I rate it 8/10 as a language learning tool. Stardew Valley is a great tool for people who want to learn English, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Italian, French, Korean, Turkish, and Hungarian. It is also geared towards several kinds of learners like people who like to learn with graphics, nature, media and more.

In this video, I use Rod Ellis' principles of instructed language learning (2005) and Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences for learning (2006) as they both deeply resonate with my own approach as a language teaching and learning professional. In particular, I discuss topics like having a rich repertoire of formulaic expressions and rule-based competence, learning that is focused on meaning and form, implicit and explicit language knowledge learning, individual learner approaches, extensive opportunities for language output and input including multiplayer interactions, and finally if there are elements of customization to the learner in Stardew Valley.

In this video I also feature some activities which I created on my program "Collaborative Learning Notes" which you can access at www.clnotes.com. To find the CLNote with the vocabulary from Stardew Valley login to CLNotes, go to resource search and look up "Stardew Valley" and you will be able to find the English vocabulary list I made for my students from Stardew Valley called "LAWAG Stardey Valley 280919."
