Learning "Cannonless" For Mar10 Day in Super Mario 64
5I'm not a speedrunner by any means, but I thought Cannonless in Super Mario 64 would be a fun thing to learn for Mar10 Day haha
I know it's a few days later, but on Mar10 Day, I decided to try learning something new in one of my favorite games, Super Mario 64. Cannonless is a speedrunning tactic where you line everything up properly in order to clip through a wall and collect the star that you normally need the use of a cannon to access.
Surprisingly I actually got the clip for the first time after about 15 minutes of tries. Sadly I wasn't recording it because I didn't think I'd get it so fast haha. This is a clip from my practice tries the next day. While I can get it decently often, I'm now looking for consistency, with my record being only 3 successful attempts in a row. Not too great but for only about 1 1/2 hours of total practice, I think it's pretty good haha. Also I suppose it should be noted that I actually did this playing on the Nintendo Switch Through the 64 part of Nintendo Switch Online, using a pro controller(I dunno if that matters to the speedrunning community haha)
