The Legend of Sword and Fairy 5 Prequel is an action role-playing game developed by Softstar Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. It is the seventh installment in the Legend of Sword and Fairy (or Chinese Paladin) video game series and is the prequel of The Legend of Sword and Fairy 5. Set in a fictional version of ancient China, the game is based on the wuxia genre with elements of fantasy.
The Legend of Sword and Fairy (Chinese: 仙劍奇俠傳; pinyin: XiānjiànQíXiáZhuàn), also known as Chinese Paladin, is a game/media franchise created by Yao Zhuangxian and is developed by Taiwanese company Softstar. The franchise centers on a series of Chinese mythology-based role-playing video games, but also includes two live-action TV series adapted from the games. The eponymous first game in the series is published by Softstar's “Crazy Boyz” team (狂徒創作群) in 1995, became both a commercial and critical success, and multiple sequels have been spawned due to its popularity. The video game series has since branched into other genres such as business simulation games and MMORPGs. It has been regarded as one of the most iconic Chinese RPG series ever made.
