Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES) 100% Walkthrough Part 5: Upgrades & Palace of Darkness
Welcome to my next video which covers the hugely popular Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past! Widely considered to be one of the best games in the series (and on the SNES), this game expanded Zelda's gameplay immensely by offering numerous sidequests, introducing heart pieces and setting a standard that would continue well into the series future. This walkthrough will show you how to beat the game 100%, conquering all 12 dungeons and getting all the optional upgrades and heart pieces along the way.
This part shows a trick to max out your rupees and obtain the bomb/arrow upgrades, which cost a total of 1400 rupees altogether to obtain. While this trick is doable as soon as you get the Power Bracelet and Flippers, I tend to save it for the beginning of the dark world as that's when the dungeons start to really become difficult and you'll need 110 rupees anyway to unlock the dungeon. The trick is to visit the rupee room, located near the desert underneath a giant rock. This room contains 10 pots which each hold a blue rupee underneath for 50 total rupees. Every time you exit and re-enter, the rupees respawn, allowing you to max out your rupees. You can then take these to the Pond of Happiness, where throwing in 100 rupees will net you your choice of a bomb or arrow capacity upgrade. Keep doing this until you have 50 bombs and 70 arrows.
This part showcases this trick on how to max your rupees and obtain these upgrades as well as how to find and tackle the Palace of Darkness.
