PAL 50Hz

This is the complete Lemmings SEGA Master System soundtrack on CD. The music has been carefully recorded and captured from an original PAL model 1 Sega Master System console.

The audio is crystal clear and retains it's original Master System PSG fullness which is only heard from a SEGA Master System model 1 or 2 console.

Everybody else who has attempted to upload Lemmings music from the Sega Master System has used emulation which has resulted in inaccurate sound where the square waves have been amplified too loud and the noise channel too soft or a very tight sound recorded at the wrong tempo of 60Hz.

My recordings feature the original hardware sound where the balance of the square waves volume is equaled to the noise channel volume and the audio retains that fullness that all emulators and even the Sega Mega Drive fail to capture. So please sit back and come on a Lemmings music journey with me where we go back in time and trek along with each music track on a fun filled music adventure of pure nostalgia!

All tracks play in the same order that they played in the game.

A note about the sound artist:

Matt Furniss, the greatest western music composer and sound artist ever to grace a SEGA Master System and SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis. Lemmings on the Sega Master System is with out a doubt his greatest work on Sega's nifty little 8-bit video game console. Matt used lots of different sounds to make his arrangements sound really good and some of the key methods is that he used alot of Arpeggio chords, sawtooth wave for bass, square wave for drums and a motto where the idea was to get the most out of the limited sound chip back in the days before CD-Rom, PCM and other superior formats began. Matt made the PSG sound chip at times sound like it was outputting 5 channels at once when in fact it was ever only outputting 4, the trick was to share the channels and mix different sounds in the same channels, most notably was his use of the sawtooth wave, the sawtooth wave would often be shared with the white noise percussion resulting in a 3 chord bass structure immediately accompanied by a white noise snare drum hit. The sawtooth wave also known as (pulse) uses the PSG's special periodic mode 3, where in order to use it with all it's volume and tone registors it has to mute channel 3 which only leaves 3 sounds being heard simultaneously, but by adding a white noise snare drum hit and a square wave bass drum hit at the exact same time makes it that for a split second, the PSG-SN76489 is outputting 4 sounds simultaneously, then once sawtooth is heard it resonates back to 3, a clever method that the Japanese never bothered with, all this from a musician as talented as Matt Furniss. So by using this arrangement of sharing sawtooth wave and white noise I believe Matt really did succeed in getting the most sound out of a limited sound chip.

Matt Furniss can be found in fact right here on Youtube as he has his own Youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/user/mfurniss

Other notable Matt Furniss music on the Master System:

1. Back To The Future III
2. The Terminator
3. Alien 3
4. Global Gladiators
5. Outrun Europa
6. Road Rash
7. Cool Spot
8. Daffy Duck In Hollywood
9. Marble Madness
10. Sega Chess

Recorded from an original PAL model 1 Sega master System console through it's AV port for hi-fidelity sound.

Played and streamed through a real Sega Mega-CD attachment to the Mega Drive/Genesis.

Enjoy!
