Len'en Reactivate Majestical Imperial: Unreal 1CC (Yabusame/Tsubakura)
6After doing a lunatic 1CC of every non-bullshit Touhou game (specifically UFO ;-;), I thought it'd be a fun idea to do an unreal 1CC of a Len'en game!
I actually had to do this run twice. I saved a replay of the first one, but the replay ended up getting bugged on stage 6, so the entire replay was ruined. So I had to do the whole game AAAAAAAAAAALL over again :|
It wasn't that bad though, RMI is the easiest Len'en. Unless you count BPoHC with all the upgrades.
RMI is a little more complicated than the previous two games, but definitely not as complicated as BPoHC. You can gain lives through simply earning points, and you get an extend at specific checkpoints like 10,000,000.
The spirit and team system is where it gets weird though. Those white orbs you see are collected by your passive character (the one you're not using), who will follow you from behind and collect spirits. You can see their collection hitbox at the bottom border of the screen. And every 200 spirits, you experience a special effect that depends on which team you're using.
Switching shot types is also a weird gimmick, but not very complicated. Every time you use a flash bomb, use a spell card, or die, you switch shot types. Also, every time you use a flash bomb or a spell card, it is unleashed by the shot type you're switching to. Just something to keep in mind though, it's not very important.
There are four teams you can choose from, and each of them has their own unique ability, and two abilities unique to each character in the team. Yabusame and Tsubakura are honestly the most underwhelming team, but I have good luck when using them for some reason, so... Oh well :T
I actually believe the strongest team is Kuroji and Saragimaru, but I always die to the stupidest things when using them. I think it's just because their shot types are difficult to use (but very rewarding!)
This game is my favorite Len'en game in the series, but if I had one gripe about the game, it's definitely the stage design. Doing blind runs is a terrible idea in this game, even on normal mode. Fairies will often spawn from the bottom or the sides of the screen, so accidentally ramming into fairies is a common way to die. You also have to memorize EXACTLY where they spawn to kill them before they shoot, which is a common strategy in Touhou, but for this game it's almost a necessity. Many of the stages are really boring too, mainly stage 2 and 4. I think the stage design was much more exciting in Evanescent Existence.
