The Beauty with the new ThinkPad XI Carbon is that though it is a 14-inch notebook, it perfectly fits into the 13-inch footprint of the earlier version. Weighing around just 1.3 kg with a thickness of just 0.71 inches it conforms to the standards of Intel's official Utrabook height requirements that specify that any 13-inch display should not exceed 18 mm( 0.71 inches) and a 14-inch display should not exceed 21mm (0.82 inches) in height. The build quality of the Carbon XI is good and it appears to be durable and has the same roll-cage design though the magnesium fiber has been replaced with ones of carbon. The advantage of carbon fiber is that it weights just a third of aluminum though the strength is similar to that of aluminum. So much so, that the ThinkPad XI Carbon passed MIL specs test with consummate ease

Lenovo introduced its first Windows 8 touch-optimized portable monitor, the ThinkVision LT1423p Mobile Monitor Touch at CES 2013. The monitor measures at 13.3 inches, has a 1,600x900 resolution AH-IPS Gorilla Glass panel, and will be available during the second quarter of 2013 for approximately $449.

The monitor's 10-point multi-touch screen has wide viewing angles and sports anti-reflection and anti-fingerprint surfaces. The touch display is also functional with an electro-magnetic stylus and ships with a cover and stand to support landscape or portrait use.

The ThinkVision LT1423p Mobile Monitor Touch's 1.6 pound weight and slim dimensions (0.3 inch at its thinnest and 0.6 inch at its thickest) make it as portable as some tablets. This is a great feature for those who frequently travel or need a highly portable monitor. The monitor can be used wirelessly via Wi-Fi or wired using USB 3.0.
