This tiny little Class-D (or Class-T for Tripath) amplifier is perfect for powering that extra set of bookshelf speakers you have lying around.

I tested it on these 6" 2-way speakers and a larger set of 10" 3-way speakers and it really surprised me that something so small and lightweight could even power such speakers! The Tripath amp chip inside doesn't even have a heat-sink on it and barley gets warm under use!

I will say it likes a hot line input. With a phone or tablet you can crank the volume knob wide open and it doesn't get noticeably distorted (I had it wide open in this video!) so full range of the volume is usable most of the time. It gets loud enough off a phone or tablet (volume maxed on device) but I noticed when I used the line-out on a CD Player it did get a bit louder. Again at full volume here the amp doesn't get hot, doesn't dim the power LED and doesn't clip or distort to any point that would indicate it's beyond its power range.

Inc external switch mode PSU is 13.5v x 3.0a (40.5W)

I've had this amp for about 6 months now and still enjoy listening to it. I bought it to replace an old (probably late 70's or early 80's) Japanese receiver that had a bad ch (one speaker was noticeably quieter with no bass) and can say the sound quality is way better than it should be for the size and price of this thing. I think I paid around $40 for it.

BTW the 2nd song I demo is from Starship Amazing (Derek from Stop Skeletons from Fighting) and if you like chiptune/synth pop(??) music you should check out his web store. Albums are "pay what you want" and well worth a few bucks each. I bought them all myself!
