blah blah blah algorithm thing
Lethal Company is a cooperative survival horror game where you and up to three other players take on the role of contracted employees for "The Company." Your objective is to travel to various abandoned, industrialized moons and scavenge for scrap. This scrap is then sold to The Company to meet an increasingly difficult profit quota within a three-day deadline. Failure to meet the quota results in you and your crew being "fired" (ejected into space), leading to a game over.
Here's a breakdown of the key elements:
Scavenging and Quotas: The core gameplay loop revolves around exploring derelict facilities on different moons to find valuable scrap. The more valuable the scrap, the more money you earn. You need to gather enough within three days to satisfy The Company's demands.
Perilous Moons: Each moon has unique environments, ranging from lush and green to rocky and barren. They also come with random weather conditions like fog, quicksand, lightning storms, or even solar eclipses, adding to the challenge.
Terrifying Monsters: The abandoned facilities and even the outdoor areas are crawling with a variety of dangerous creatures, often referred to as "anomalies," "entities," or "creatures." These monsters have distinct behaviors and weaknesses, some of which are incredibly deadly and require specific strategies to avoid or counter. Some examples include the fast-moving Thumper, the stalking Bracken, and the truly terrifying Jester.
Co-op and Communication: Lethal Company is heavily reliant on teamwork. Proximity voice chat is a key feature, allowing for immersive and often hilarious communication (or panicked screams) as you navigate the dangers. You can guide your crewmates from the safety of the ship using a radar, or venture in together.
Resource Management: You have limited inventory slots, forcing you to make strategic decisions about what scrap to carry and which tools (like flashlights, shovels, or walkie-talkies) are essential for survival.
Atmosphere and Humor: While it's a horror game, Lethal Company often generates comedic moments due to player interactions, proximity chat, and the absurdity of the situations you find yourselves in. The low-fidelity, retro-futuristic graphics contribute to its unique charm.
