Let's Experience - Synth Riders... WITH A VR NEWBIE!
9I get my sister, who came down for a visit, to put on a VR headset and give Synth Riders a go.
In this video I discuss what I like to refer to as the 3 stages of VR, which is most evident when people new to VR play rhythm games, especially when they are around others.
The 3 stages of VR are like this:
Stage 1 - The stage of hesitancy. In this stage you are playing the game and trying to achieve the goal, BUT you are very aware of how you may look to others around you who might not be able to see what you see. You are worried about looking silly. Like I said this especially goes for rhythm games. You constantly reign yourself in because you don't want to look like you are dancing around like an idiot.
Stage 2 - This is the stage where you start getting into a game and begin to become immersed. When with others you forget they are watching. In a rhythm game you get into the song and you start swaying and moving. You get into a "flow." Stage 2 is more fun than Stage 1.
Stage 3 - Stage 3 is the best stage and the stage at which you will have THE MOST FUN. You let yourself get fully immersed. Maybe you are AWESOME at the particular game you are playing, maybe not. Maybe you are dancing around like an idiot, maybe not. Maybe you are with others, maybe not. In Stage 3 the maybes don't matter, because in Stage 3 you DEFINITELY DON'T GIVE A F#$%. In stage 3 you are all about just having a good time in the virtual world.
