As a kid, my grandpa introduced me to some of his hobbies which included bees, history, and gaming. The history part wasn't for me at the time, but I really liked the multi-flavored honey straws he'd always bring over to eat, and the sheets of wax that we'd always use to roll candles. Getting stung by the bees however, was not as much fun.

Grandpa wasn't a big time gamer, but he loved to play here and there on his pc, and had a blast when he did. Floppy discs were alive and well at the time and we had fun with some Star Wars games and simulators. There was this one LucasArts point 'n click adventure that stuck out, Day of the Tentacle (DOTT). He ended up letting me and my mother try it (she loves puzzles) and then let us keep it! That sparked my mom to go on a point 'n click adventure gaming spree for the next decade or so. I always had her help with those kinds of games because I'd get stuck a lot. Mostly though, I'd end up just watching her.

This is that game. The first one that got my mom really into that world. This is the game that I associate with my grandfather. He passed away from cancer eventually. This playthrough was enjoyable for me for that specific tie to my grandpa and for the nostalgia overall. I can't believe I still remember the puzzles. DOTT is seriously quirky and strange for those unfamiliar, but so was my grandfather. I mean if you think this is weird, you should see Grossology! That's a whole other thing. DOTT is a classic, and like my good old grandpa, should be remembered forever.

This is my playthrough of Day of the Tentacle, a game that just like the honey sticks, is sweeter once you've aquired the taste for it.

For Grandpa Mike.
