Let's Grind - CrossCode - Part 121 - Accessibility Options
There is a segment of the gaming community that feels like playing with difficulty turned down is a thing worthy of humiliation. Like if you get stuck at a point in the game then you deserve to be stuck there. This is a sort of outgrowth of the days when video games were found in arcades and were designed to be hellishly difficult so that people would spend more money on them and people would brag about how they got through the game and how few quarters they had to spend to do so.
However, it doesn't have much bearing on video games you purchase to explore and have fun with. I normally play on normal difficulties myself, with the exception of one or two where I play higher difficulty levels. Some people have fun with high difficulty and can stress relief in that challenge. For others, it's just going to make the stress worse which is counterproductive to the purpose of entertainment.
What I really like about what CrossCode is doing here is that you can modify the difficulty on the fly when you hit a puzzle that is really giving you difficulty. It is true that I could possibly have managed it eventually, but I don't want to spend forever doing video after video of the same puzzle. It's a bit different from a boss fight in that regard. Also, unlike a boss fight where I like the coordination and speed to pull off the fast strategies to beat a boss, I can't just smack it down with chip damage.
This video is posted under fair use laws as a commentary on the video game and a showcasing on methods of clearing each section.
