It occurs to me that the poison being used in the murder was purchased from a very nice and legitimate apothecary and the poison being used to fake a death is being sold by the shady fixer/fence down in the underground. That doesn't really surprise me though. Apothecaries and pharmacists deal a lot in chemicals that have medicinal uses when used properly but could easily be turned into poisons. And something that could be easily used to fake a death does feel a bit like something you'd find with a shady fence.
