Pioneer Peril brings back the nostalgia of grade school when playing Oregon Trail was a rare joy. For those that never experienced it, this is most definitely not a clone but it does draw inspiration from it. While you're not able to go hunting on a whim or gathering for plants, trading at trading posts, or choosing paths, it DOES it's own thing right.

You have to deal with various random events ranging from deciding how many trees to cut down, adopting or leaving babies by the side of the road, random wagons you come across, and a host of other events. You also have trolls who guard bridges at the end of each day that request tribute. You can either pay them, offer a new deal, or fight them. Fighting them is free but of course has other dangers, namely a gruesome death.

Death isn't always a bad thing though to be fair. If one member gets sick, the entire party is liable to suffer and one less mouth to feed helps stretch the supplies which will dwindle. All in all if you like resource management games, I highly recommend giving Pioneer Peril a try.
