Welcome to Advance Wars, a cartoony looking strategy game that masks its true depth. In this game we act as the Commanding Officer, or CO, of the Orange Star army! Leading them in battles across the world is our responsibility as we seek to reclaim our own territory before pushing back our enemies further to seek out the true cause of hostility between our neighbouring nations.

Advance Wars has an interesting campaign mode with a wide variety of COs, and your choice of CO actually matters! Their individual strengths and weaknesses in command transfer across to your troops on the battlefield. The veteran Russian(esque) officer's army is resilient to snow. An ex-pirate turned commander has an impressive navy. Your selection in CO is at the heart of your decision making in Advanced Wars, and with the cast each having such large and distinct personalities, the game is all the better for it!

I will be doing my best to explain mechanics, units and the like throughout the Let's Play. If you're a seasoned pro then please hold tight, it'll be over soon as Advance Wars is remarkably easy to explain. Soon enough everyone will be up to speed and then we can all settle in, relax, and let me take you through the world of Advance Wars, for the GBA.
