A full playthrough of Breakout, filled with unedited gameplay and commentary. I'll be your guide, and across this makeshift walkthrough we shall complete the full game from start to finish. So join me as we playthrough this PS1 puzzle game!

Welcome to the world of Breakout, a Story of Bat Meets Ball, to use its full name. This PlayStation version of the classic game takes quite a sharp detour in terms of gameplay. Whilst maintaining the classic "there is a ball, there is a bat, there are blocks to destroy", this game manages to warp that basic design in the best ways possible. There are honestly interesting enemies, a wide range of mechanics, level specific hazards and all sorts of wild and wacky obstacles to overcome. It's a clever upgrade to the classic game that works far better than it has any right to.

For some reason the bats are also alive now. And they have personalities. It's weird, but you know what it... kind of works? Storyline is as barebones as it gets but just seeing my bat-man wiggle with joy after a stage is completed is pleasing enough.

There's a collection of non-breakout style levels as well mind you. These aren't the best in my opinion and ultimate detract from the otherwise superb reimagining. Fortunately the majority of the bosses make use of traditional Breakout mechanics so all is forgiven. Yes, bosses. In breakout.
