At last, we've made it out of the Rock Tunnel! We now explore the mysterious Lavender Town where deceased Pokémon are laid to rest. And speaking of those who are dead to me, we reunite with a not so modest face....

On Route 8 to the west, we also meet up with our fifth party member. He'll heat things up, and we'll have a roaring good time with him on our team.

BOSS: Blue (fifth battle)
Blue's Pokémon have slightly increased in level, but they have a few more tricks up their sleeve. However, your Pokémon will likely be at higher levels than his from all the experience they gained in the Rock Tunnel. Nevertheless, type advantages are key.

Speaking of which, Blue will have certain Pokémon depending on which starter you chose at the beginning of the game. Regardless, he will always have a Fire, Water, and Grass type in his roster.

Pidgeotto leads off, and it now has Whirlwind to switch your active Pokémon with one in your reserves. Other than that, use Rock or Electric attacks to take it down, and be sure to switch out if Sand-Attack becomes an issue.

Exeggcute will appear on Blue's team if you did not choose Squirtle. It is by far the easiest member of his team to deal with. The only way it can inflict damage is through Leech Seed, but its stats are so abysmal anything can take it down.

Growlithe will appear on Blue's team if you did not choose Bulbasaur. It's attacks are fairly standard, although it can force you to switch out by using Roar. Aside from that, it only has Ember and Bite to deal damage. Water and Rock attacks are highly recommended.

Gyarados will appear on Blue's team if you did not choose Charmander. An Electric attack can easily dispatch it, but Thrash is a major threat, as it capitalizes on Gyarados' massive Attack stat. If you don't have an Electric Pokémon, use your best attacks to bring it down.

Kadabra is exactly the same as it was the last time, albeit two levels higher. It's a threatening special attacker with Confusion, but its Defense is low, so use physical attacks.

Charmeleon now has Rage which increases in strength the more it is used. Thankfully, it requires a ton of uses before it becomes a real threat. Wartortle is exactly the same as it was last time with the same moveset. Ivysaur has Poisonpowder, so you might want to consider packing some full heals. Overall, the starters haven't changed much.
