Story 6/10
The story in Asemblance is one that almost begs more than one playthrough. The first time around it's all jumbled up and in bits and pieces that you find based on your decisions. It definitely has potential to be an amazing story but from the pieces that I played of it I was just left unsatisfied. There's a lot of exploration involved and way too many open holes that are never filled before the overly vague ending that I got. In the end I felt left out to dry by the dev's and reluctant to try another playthrough. I also wouldn't call this game horror per say. What I saw was CREEPY, sure, but to call a game that offers 10 percent of creepiness 'horror' may be reaching. It may be better with other endings however so take it with a grain of salt!
Audio 7/10
Nothing really wrong with the audio itself. The AI voice actor did a fabulous job really! The music was changed and pitched to fit the atmosphere which helped set scenes well. The only real issue I have is the lack of subtitles.
Graphics 8/10
This game looks fantastic! Every where you look there are tiny details all around. From cracks in the walls to individual letters laying on the desks there are clues hidden around this world everywhere! Don't even get me started about the seen on the ridge. Definitely a pretty game!
Controls
WASD and mouse. Game froze whenever you hit pause and needed to be restarted however so that was a bummer.
TL;DR
Asemblance is a short exploration game with multiple endings. The game boasts being a horror experience when in reality I found more horror in how confused I was throughout the entire experience. You are guided by an AI through 'your' memories and fed a story filled with holes and questions only to be led to an ending that makes more questions and even more holes. What is real? What was that? It almost feels like the game is pushing you to play through it again to get the other endings in hopes of figuring out what the hell just happened, which isn't a hard thing to do, the game is only an hour after all, but still kind of taxing. The game itself is gorgeous but feels too loosely put together to really write home about.
Would I recommend this game? Sadly, no.
