Let's Play At The Tale End - Part 4: Our Alternatives
At The Tale End isn't a game I know terribly much about, other than that it's pretty short, doesn't involve combat, and that it's set after the ending of Ye Old Generic JRPG.
Oh, look, doing anything but the right thing results in everyone dying. Will you look at that.
If you're curious, you get the "ending" where you dissolve in the sea if you do ANYTHING other than killing everyone or wiping everyone's traumatic memories (which doesn't seem like the best approach to me, honestly, but I doubt your average RPG world has discovered therapy yet). And, let me tell you, I REALLY appreciate that the game lets you quickly skip to the actual decision on repeated "playthroughs" — it's not like it saved THAT much time, given the game's scale, but it's definitely something I wish more games with "bad" choices did.
Which makes it kinda weird that that concession to respecting the player's time is in this game, which has had multiple instances of "do the same thing multiple times, with no other changes, just to set a flag" so far.
