Let's Play C&C Tiberian Sun Firestorm (GDI) #13: Disruptors, what can't they do?
Avoid friendly fire, for one.
In all seriousness, disruptors are absolutely fantastic at taking out NOD/CABAL bases, especially when supported by some anti-air units and a few juggernauts. Their beams being able to pierce through many enemies means that they can obliterate tightly packed groups of units and they're wonderful against buildings. They're not the fastest or the most durable, but that doesn't matter when you have a huge stack of them.
Their main downside is their cost, coming in at quite a lot more than the titan. It also requires more buildings to gain access to constructing them and they don't have the reach with their weapons the titan has, but I think their awesome power makes up for it. All we need are enough of them.
