Ideologies are a new change to the culture and social policy system in Civ V. When you either reach the Industrial Era and have three cities build Factories or you reach the Era after that, you can pick an Ideology. If you are the first to found an Ideology, you get two free policies in that Ideology.

Ideologies are like social policies but with alot more slots that you fill with policies of three tiers. In essence, it works you towards a certain end game victory depending on the Ideology (it also unlocks one Wonder such as the Statue of Liberty for Freedom).

Oh and we find out our capital can not make up its mind when it comes to religion.
