Command and Destroy is a real-time strategy game developed by Cypron Studios and published by Destination Software Inc. and Zoo Digital Publishing for the Nintendo DS. It was first released on February 15, 2008 in North America.
The game is a traditional real-time strategy game, and lifts a number of units, structures, and visual designs from Napalm: The Crimson Crisis, one of Cypron Studios' previous titles, which in turn is largely a clone of Command 6 Conquer.
Command and Destroy is set in a future in which humans have established space colonies. Humanity comes under attack by alien forces seeking to destroy them. In twelve missions for each side, the player commands either the humans or the aliens.
The game was originally developed for the Game Boy Advance, but later ported to the Nintendo DS. It requires both the use of the styles and the d-pad, and utilises one of the DS's screens as a viewport and the other as a menu.
Command and Destroy received mostly negative reviews. It was criticised for its lacklustre and derivative gameplay, which differentiated the game little from other titles released more than a decade earlier.
The game's clunky controls were criticised as well, as was its lack of a battery save feature, requiring players to physically note down passwords for each mission and complete missions - some of which last 45 minutes to an hour - in one go.
