Story: Darchon and his Emperors of the Universe have decided to stay in the Empire of the Night in order to restore themselves to full might after the destruction of their flagship Emperprise, and has sent his mortal henchmen to hunt down Esmeralda, Quasimodo, Phoebus, Clopin and Punkers of Crimsonland. To make things worse, Krainian Empire joins the Imperials in their pursuit for them, and are preparing a massive attack in their hidden cavern base, which will be led by one of the Empire of the Night's mortal henchmen called Sherry LeBlanc. In order to hinder her plans of assault, Esmeralda and Quasimodo go on the recon mission to discover what Empire of the Night has in store for them now.
Gameplay: Crimsonland is a prequel to all the previous top-down shooters I played so far: Gunstorm, RIP 3: The Last Hero and Dark Archon: Invasion. Anyway, first ten levels are pretty easy if you know what you're doing. There are four types of weapons: Normal, which bullets deal normal amount of damage, but poor accuracy, Shotgun, which bullets have spread and are very powerful when empowered with Fire Bullets Power Up, Fire, which bullets have limited firing range, Plasma, which bullets have more firepower than Normal ones, but poor accuracy, Cutter, which bullets can pierce through enemies, Rocket, which bullets deal normal amount of damage and splash around the enemy they hits, and Ion, which bullets have more firepower than Rocket ones, and have bigger splash than them.
