Let's Play Crusader Kings II 102: The End of an Era
And so the middles ages draw to a close. From the humble beginnings of Duke Steffan, the Maelor dynasty spread across europe and was a major influence in the politics of the time. Maelor Kings rose and fell and one even became emperor of the Byzantine lands for a short time but never did the primary Maelor line falter. Trials and tribulations were thrown against them, kingdoms warred with them but the Maelor dynasty endured and thrived.
But what became of the Maelor line after the middle ages? History grow murky at this point, who can say what they had a hand in during the times to come...
Crusader Kings II is a game that I love to play. I find the interactions between the many thousands of characters fun to try and keep track of while attempting to keep my objectives achievable. It's a game that allows you play any way you like; military conquest, diplomatic endeavors, marriages into power, subtle intrigue and not-so subtle stabbing people in the back. I came into the Let's Play thinking I knew a lot about how the game worked and learned a lot more then I thought I would; I'm still far from being a master of the game. Perhaps I could have gained more by being more expansive but I feel I achieved a lot considering my start. The game has a wonderful way of surprising you, throwing your dynasty down paths you did not think would be trodden by you - I'm looking at you Geraint the Bewitched.
Will I ever return to Crusader Kings II or continue the story in Europa Universalis IV? Both are options but I have little experience of EUIV, something I may have to remedy. If I were to return to CKII I would start right back in the Charlamange era and probably try to found my own kingdom. After all, the baron of Bakewell could rise to be the Bakewellian Emperor with the right circumstances...
What will come next? Who knows, perhaps we'll return to a game series previously played, after all we have a circle to complete...
See you next Let's Play!
