Everything past 40:07 is credits and me expressing my thoughts and feelings on the game, there's a LOT to talk about and most of it isn't good unfortunately.

I am playing the standalone version, you can download it for free on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/223710/Cry_of_Fear/

I used to love this game to death back when it first came out on Steam. I thought it was a really strong love letter to the survival horror genre of games that has basically completely evaporated in gaming for seemingly no good reason whatsoever. The story is excellent and the scares, atmosphere and metaphorical meanings behind everything are fantastic but sadly, the gameplay fell incredibly flat for me and at times was a total chore to play so much so I got to the point of threatening to discontinue the playthrough altogether.

I hate having to be so harsh on a game, I just want to sit back and enjoy my time with every game but when something can be so awfully designed to the point of being a dreadful mess that fills me with physical rage then the game clearly has some very serious issues - all of which will never be fixed now that Team Pykskaller have moved on to other things. It's got the mechanics of an intense survival horror but it has the enemies, level design and combat encounters of a fast FPS game and it just doesn't work at all the vast majority of the time and that lead to me thinking the game is incredibly confused, unknowing of what kind of game it wants to be at times and that's really quite sad.

I love the game for its incredible, emotional story and the fact that it was one of the scariest games I've ever played but I hate it for not knowing what kind of game it really wants to be and I believe all of my criticisms are valid and not just overblown rage where I exaggerate all the time (perhaps a fair bit of it is but I feel my criticisms are valid and the fault of the game). I just don't see myself personally playing it again, at least not for my channel. I don't think I'd be interested in the custom stories or doctor mode or a second playthrough simply because the gameplay is not up to snuff for me to enjoy it a second time around. I wish it was my fault that it turned out this way but I'm very certain it's the game because those sections of terrible design severely damaged the experience for me.

I'm really sorry that I have to be so insanely harsh on your game Team Psykskaller, being a love letter to a dead genre and being a content-filled free game is really something give credit for and your hearts were definitely in the right place but I have never fell so out of love for a game this insanely hard in my entire life because as a game to play, it's really not as good as people say it is in my opinion. If you enjoy the game yourself then I'm really happy for you, I just wish I could fall in love with it yet again but it never happened. That's really quite sad.

Disclaimer: This game tackles a lot of really dark and sometimes depraved themes - if you're easily offended by subjects such as depression, child abuse and suicide then viewer discretion is advised.

Being alone does things to you. Simon doesn't know if he likes it or if he's just used to it. After a freak car crash, our protagonist finds himself unharmed in an alleyway and receives a text from his mom to come home, a cold Scandinavian night is good for no one. But soon the world he knows is turned on its head as the city of Fäversholm descends further and further into abstract madness as nightmarish monsters stalk Simon at every turn. Can he survive the night and make his way home?
