Well, I do think he could have at least labelled the more significant and exclusive enemies as twice the size in battle so that we would know.

Apparently by the same person who made Catacomb, "Dark Designs: Grelminar's Staff" is an RPG.

There are three classes of party member you can create: Fighter (self-explanatory), Priest (White magic), and Wizard (Black Magic). You can customize your party however you want it, although I'd always suggest you have one priest.

You can encounter enemies in either random or mandatory battle scenarios. If you have a Priest, you can choose from eight different white spells. If you have a Wizard, you can choose from eight different dark spells. Fighters cannot use magic; they have to rely on their strength and defence.

Pro-tip: If you can't buy an item but you obtain it in a battle, do not let go of it, or else the game becomes unwinnable. If the game becomes unwinnable, you'd better have backup files because you'd need them to start the game from scratch again.

You can examine characters and the items they hold either in the town or at the castle. You'll need this to unlock some doors.

Once you obtain Grelminar's Staff, you win the game. You must then transfer your party members who beat the game to the sequel, "Dark Designs II: Closing The Gate".

In my opinion, this is an okay game, although it lacks the ability to restart from the beginning.
