Well, this is an old game but well, I enjoyed playing it back in the day. And I still do. It's pretty neat actually. It's a turn-based colony builder with various factions with their own strengths and weaknesses.
Sure, all the buildings and equipment are roughly the same but they play slightly differently in each game.
Of course, I start things off by playing as the Humans. They make the most money and honestly, money is going to be one of your biggest problems in-game; their only weakness really is that they suffer big morale penalties for using the black market... but no one uses that!

Beneath you floats magnificent, untamed Gallius IV, a terran world newly discovered in this disputed part of the galaxy. Your colony ship is ready, equipped with all the basics you need to settle this planet.
