Let's Play: Doom 2: The Master Levels - The Express Elevator to Hell (teeth.wad) [PSN Map20]
A playthrough of "The Express Elevator to Hell" (teeth.wad) [Map20 of the PSN version] of the Master Levels of Doom II for PC, played through GLBoom+. 110% kills, 100% secrets (Max-Kill). This map was made by Sverre Andrè "Cranium" Kvernmo. The music used is from Hell Revealed, Map18 "Hard Attack". The track is titled "I Choose the Stairs" (originally taken from "Rise of the Triad") and is composed by Lee Jackson.
Just a heads up, you probably want to turn your volume down around 18:25 and turn it back up around 18:56. Congratulations, Cranium. You are responsible for the first map to make me *ACTUALLY SCREAM* out of frustration in the middle of a recording. I had to lower said scream 10 decibels. 10. Decibels. How does that feel? Does that make you feel good? Does that make you happy? Do you enjoy this like some sort of twisted sadist? Fuck.
So, the map itself isn't too bad really. Well, 85% of the map. The beginning of it is really rough but a few well-placed SSG shots at the start make it a bit easier. Once you get a foothold in the map, things will play rather smoothly and some of the traps aren't that difficult if you are willing to wait them out by playing elevator tag. However. All of this is RUINED by the final, 8th Floor. No. Absofuckinglutely no. The irony here is that the single-segment speedrun route makes it not-that-frustrating, but listen. The last secret is only accessible by an Arch-Vile jump. In a cramped room where you can't run past them. While they resurrect enemies and get in the way. While you still have an enemy behind them to get to. While you have a ticking invulnerability. If you just get the invulnerability, hit the jump, snag the secret/BFG/Soulsphere, then fall down? It isn't so bad. But when you are trying to show these maps in proper sequential order, meaning that the secret exit HAS to be taken, while making sure EVERYTHING is dead, and you have THIS sort of bullshit? Fuck-the-hell no. Not to mention that it takes roughly 15 minutes JUST TO GET TO THAT POINT. Only to die or accidentally kill both Arch-Viles making the final secret and the secret exit completely impossible to reach. If there were more spacing in that last room, this would be a really tolerable method of doing things, but there is NO FUCKING ROOM to navigate to get any sort of monster manipulation going. I'm so glad this map is over. Fuck it. I'm not touching this shit again.
