ENCASED, THE PC GAME
Encased - A Sci-Fi Post Apocalyptic RPG is a turn-based tactical science fiction CRPG (classic isometric RPG). The game is set in an alternative 1970's and inspired by classic role-playing games games like Fallout and Wasteland. The Soviet-era sci-fi novel Roadside Picnic provided further inspiration.
In Encased an enormous and inexplicable artifact – the Dome – has been discovered in a remote desert of Earth. An international team is being sent there to investigate. To coordinate this project the neutral and trans-national CRONUS corporation has been founded. Inside the Dome the employees of CRONUS encounter numerous (and dangerous) alien artifacts, creatures, phenomena and anomalies that are not entirely understood by humanity. The Dome has however essentially ended the Cold War and brought the nations together. People are assigned to so called wings that represent their professions: scientists, technicians, administrators/leaders, security and convicts for physical labor. Within a short time an economy has developed around the Dome and humanity's tech level has increased. However, no human who entered the Dome can leave.
When entering the Dome the player finds clues as to what dystopian environment has actually been created there. And then all changes for the worse when the MAELSTROM event occurs...
The game offers many alternative ways to play based on the employee group of the player, the so called wing. Numerous abilities, skills, perks and the playstyle - including the possibilities of stealth, intense combat and pure pacifism provide further options. In addition the game features several damage types, resistances and survival mechanics like hunger, thirst and fatigue.
Encased was developed by Dark Crystal Games and published by Dark Matter (Koch Media) in 2021. The game Encased can be downloaded for example via Steam, GOG or the Epic Games Store.
THIS ENCASED LET'S PLAY
In this Encased - A Sci-Fi Post Apocalyptic RPG LP campaign we will see a full Encased playthrough that also functions as a tutorial and walkthrough. We will see lots of uncut gameplay and play a full Encased campaign. Therefore every episode contains an Encased commentary and provides numerous impressions. After finishing the game and seeing as many Encase endings as possible I will add a video with my collected thoughts which will function as a test and review for Encased.
We will role-play a morally challenged genius on high difficulty this time, but at the core we are a good person. We are going to help the people under the Dome and try to save them from the MAELSTROM.
GAME WARNING
Be advised that Encased RPG is a game with mature content that regularly depicts digital violence and gore through combat, also strong language and adult situations. If you are a very young kid you might want to talk with your parents first to make sure that the game and these videos of a post apoc game are ok for you. We will also role-play a morally challenged genius this time, but at the core we are a good person. So there will be some adult guidance and I will always comment on anything really problematic. The game is age restricted: 16+ years (which #playinghardball finds appropriate).

I have been playing video games nearly all my life, on the internet for a few years now. I enjoy a great variety of games but generally lean towards games with a unique and engaging story (like Mass Effect, Disco Elysium, The Witcher, etc), strategy/tactical games (like XCOM, Panzercorps, Total War etc), and RPGs (like Baldur's Gate, Pathfinder etc). Of course, I am always looking for great indie games too!
