🐧 About #FinalFantasy 6 #PixelRemaster (from metacritic): #ff6 is a game that's beloved by fans and critics alike. That's partly thanks to its incredible setting and story. It's set in a land where magic has disappeared, and humanity has instead turned to iron, gunpowder, steam and other technology. Actually, it would be more accurate to say that magic is mostly gone - a young woman enslaved by the evil Empire still has the power. When she encounters a powerful ancient being called an Esper, she sets off a chain of events that will have epic and terrible consequences.
🐧 87% on Metacritic with a 7.9 user rating (from the PC, which probably are due to the fonts the pixel remasters released with). Some reviews:
- RPG Fan 95%: Final Fantasy VI is easily the “crown jewel” of the pixel remaster releases given how much effort Square Enix put into it comparatively, and is certainly now the definitive version of the game to play. I honestly wish it hadn’t taken me as long as I had to play FFVI because I think it stands as one of my all-time favorite Final Fantasy games! I wholeheartedly recommend playing it if you haven’t yet, as fellow newcomers to the title can’t go wrong with giving this version a try. Final Fantasy VI is a true classic with all the positive connotations of the word.
- Hardcore Gamer 90%: Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster is an admirable update to one of the greatest games of all time. The story remains as captivating now as it did when it was released almost thirty years ago, and even with the limited power of the hardware, the artwork and music helped bring everything to life.
- DarkwingS 10/10: Final Fantasy VI marked yet another leap forward for the franchise in terms of storytelling. This grander, more operatic narrative features a large ensemble cast -- each fully realized characters and each with their own complete arcs and storylines. Final Fantasy VI is a masterpiece, and one of the franchise's very best installments.
