Let's Play Final Fantasy IV USA (#2) - Octomamm
12In this episode Cecil take the young girl from Mist with him to the desert town of Kaipo. He takes her to the inn to rest, and tries to apologize for his misdeeds, but she does not respond. He offers her protection, and both drift off to sleep. Their slumber is interrupted by Baronian guards kicking in the door in the middle of the night. Cecil confronts them, and they tell him that the Callers of Mist must be eliminated by royal decree. Cecil refuses to hand the girl over, and a battle ensues. The guards quickly fall to Cecil's Shadow Blade, and the girl begins to trust him. She tells him her name is Rydia, and the pair set off together in the morning. Exploring the town, Cecil stumbles upon Rosa, who has fallen ill with desert fever, a disease that can only be cured by the Sand Ruby. Cecil gathers more intel in town, learning that an old man named Tellah is blocking the way to Damcyan, the place where Sand Ruby can be found. With this knowledge Cecil and Rydia travel to the Northeast Cavern, and soon enough encounter Tellah. He tells him his daughter has eloped with a bard, and he is also on his way to Damcyan to retrieve her. The three decide to travel together, as the exit of the cavern is guarded by a giant octopus that Tellah is not strong enough to defeat alone. They make camp for the night to discuss their adventures so far, and in the morning set out to defeat the cavern's guardian. Making their way ever deeper in the cave, the three find themselves atop a waterfall, and take the plunge to the bottom, where the octopus called Octomamm awaits. Defeating the monster is no easy task, but Tellah and Rydia's lighting magic combined with Cecil's sword of darkness defeat the beast. With nothing standing between them and their destination, the trio exit the cavern, setting their sights on Damcyan.
