Let's Play Final Fantasy IV USA (#1) - Flight of the Redwings
Game Start: 2:19
In this episode, the Dark Knight Cecil, Captain of the Redwings, is mid-mission when his crew begins to question the King of Baron's orders. Before any more dissent can occur, the airship nears their destination, Mysidia. The Redwing's mission is clear: take the Crystal of Water from the mages of Mysidia, by force if necessary. The mages who resist are quickly killed, and the elder surrenders the Crystal to Baron's superior forces. On the flight back to Baron, the crew engages in yet more dissent, but Cecil quickly reminds them of their place. The conversation is interrupted by an attacking force of monsters, and the crew takes up battlestations. The monsters are quickly defeated, but not before injuring some of the crew. The Redwings head directly to Baron, and make a landing near the castle. Once inside, Cecil is greeted by Baigan, the king's advisor. Cecil lets slip his discomfort with the mission, and once he and Baigan reach the throne room, Baigan has Cecil wait outside. Baigan whispers Cecil's discontent in the king's ear, and then invites Cecil inside to hand over the Crystal of Water. Cecil's conscience gets the better of him while leaving, and he confronts the king, saying he does not understand the meaning of taking the Crystal from innocent people. The king is outraged at Cecil's questioning of his orders, and summarily dismisses him as captain of the Redwings. Cecil is given a new mission: hunt the monsters of the Misty Valley, and deliver a mysterious package to the Village Mist. Cecil's best friend Kain barges into the throne room to plead Cecil's case, but both are rebuffed and escorted from the throne room. With little else to do, Cecil heads to his bedroom, feeling quite sorry for himself. He is visited in the night by his girlfriend Rosa, and he tells her of his misdeeds in Mysidia. She is sympathetic, but will hear none of his self-pity. She tells him to be careful on his new mission, and retires back to her room.
In the morning, Cecil joins with Kain, and the two head to town to gather supplies and information. After stocking up for the journey ahead, they head to the cave in the northwest, and once inside begin to hear a disembodied voice telling them to turn back. They ignore the warning, and as they make their way to the exit, the mist gathers and a dragon appears. The pair easily defeat the dragon with their combined strength, and make their way to the Village Mist. Once there, the package they are carrying opens automatically, and sets fire to the town. Still reeling from the initial shock that they have been tricked by the king into this unthinkable deed, they hear the voice of a young girl calling for her mother. Following the sound, they quickly realize that the town is filled with Callers, people who can use magic to summon monsters. The girl's mother was one of these such people, and by defeating the Mist Dragon, they unintentionally killed her as well. Cecil and Kain decide to rebel against Baron for their evil deeds, and ask the girl to accompany them. The girl refuses, and summons Titan, who casts Quake, badly injuring both Kain and Cecil, and causing a massive earthquake. Cecil awakens in a nearby clearing, and ascertaining that the girl who lies nearby is alive, calls out for Kain, but Kain is nowhere to be found. Cecil resolves himself to get the girl to safety, and to continue his mission to stop Baron and rescue Rosa from their clutches.
