In this video, you will see me play the full release (version 1.0) of Foundation. This game is fantastic and relaxing. My only complaint with the game is the housing Tier downgrade deconstruction mechanics. The villagers automatically upgrade their homes when you meet certain conditions, but when homes lose those conditions it will downgrade (losing the everything you invested in the upgrade) and then forcing you to rebuild the downgrade house again as if you're rebuilding it new for the first time (costing more resources). Overall, the game is enjoyable until you encounter the downgrade housing problem. (This VOD is from my live Twitch stream).

This game is a cozy medieval city builder (kingdom builder) with a grid-less organic development system where you can paint your construction zones and work zones. The villagers will build houses in the painted zones. This kind of reminds me of Sim City where you can set zones. A couple of similar games like Foundation are "Manor Lords", "The Settlers", "Fabledom", "Farthest Frontier", "Pioneers of Pagonia", "Going Medieval", "Kingdoms Reborn", "Founder's Fortune", "Paleon", "Airborne Kingdom", "Kingdom's Deck", "Against the Storm", "All Will Fall", "Night Will Come", "Kingdoms and Castle" and "Tiny Glade". There is no on screen combat in this game. You can however build an army and send them off on mini missions off screen. The game has you managing your villager's happiness through basic needs (housing and food), services (religious), entertainment, and goods. Happiness and employment status determines your Immigration rate. Similar to Manor Lords approval system, if you keep your people happy, you'll get visitors wanting to join your kingdom. The paths (roads) in this game are created organically based on how often villagers spend walking along certain paths from their home to work place, storage place, services (church/tavern) and market where they obtain their food and goods. You'll be able to manage the villagers taxes and create trade routes with other kingdoms to generate money (from selling surplus resources). Use money to unlock new technologies, purchase goods through trades, promoting villagers, and building construction. What's unique about the game is the ability to create specialized buildings and designing them with various parts and snapping them into slots. It's like having modular buildings that you can customize.
