In this video, you will see me play Astronomics (Early Access Press and Media Version). This game is an Asteroid Mining Space Exploration game with some Automation mechanics. The gameplay is viewed from a top down mode for the Ship Exploration (dodge asteroids) navigation mini game. The Asteroid Mining run is played from a slightly isometric top down view mode where you run around mining rocks and ores on the asteroid with the Tethering Tool (later Laser Mining tools and Turrets). These two mechanics remind me of games like "Star Control 2", "Core Keeper", "Factorio", "No Man's Sky", and "Wild Planet". When you get a mining debris, you will need to Tether them and drag them to your ship OR you can tag them for automation and let your Worker Robots to do the hauling for you. Later you can upgrade to Cranes that can move your Worker Robots around cliffs and platforms where they can reach your mined ores. The Tethering and moving around with your Jump Jets reminds me of the games "Dome Keeper" and "Drill Core". The premise and goal of the game is to make money selling your mined resources to the Cube Corporation so you can return to Earth and retire (like a Tycoon game making as much money as possible). I got some space vibes from similar games: "Wing Commander: Privateer", "Freelancer", "Eve Online", "Starbound", "Falling Frontier", "Exogate Initiative", "Industries of Titan", "Autoforge", "Oxygen Not Included", "The Crust", "Imagine Earth", and "Starminer". Your character lives onboard a Freighter Spaceship. You're like a Belter from "The Expanse" tv show. The Game Loop is as follows: Use the system navigation panel on your ship to look for Asteroids that fly through your location. Take claim of the Asteroid, Hyperjump to the Asteroid with your Freighter Starship, Land on the Asteroid with your Space Shuttle, Do the mining (and whatever automation needed), Fill up the Caro Bay of your Shuttle Spacecraft, Return to your Freighter, Set a course to the nearest Cube Corp Space Station, Sell Your Resources for credits, Buy/Upgrade/Repair your Equipment, Buy Fuel, and Complete any objectives to earn credits. The game mentions Space Pirates that you will encounter later. During the first 6 hours of my gameplay, I haven't encountered any. This game is still in development so hopefully there will be more content and exciting gameplay. Be warned, there are a lot of tedious repetitive grinding.
