Let's Play - Grit and Valor - 1949 - Mechs Real Time Tactics - Full Gameplay (Tower Defense Fest)
Let's Play Grit and Valor - 1949. Gameplay. Tutorial Missions. Campaign. Full Playthrough.
In this Let's Play video, you will see me play Grit and Valor - 1949 (Steam Tower Defense Fest). This game is a Roguelite Strategy Real Time Tactics game with Tower Defense mechanics. The premise of the game is you're on an Alternate Earth in World War 2 with the Evil Axis forces taking over the world and they have a Headquarter called "Machine Tower" which you need to eventually destroy. Go on Campaign Missions and defeat waves of enemy attacks while Protecting your Command Vehicle (think of this as a mobile base) with your Squad of three Mechs. Currently in the game, there are three mech types, Fire Mech, Explosive Mech, and the Ballistic Mech. These three unit types are like Rock, Paper, Scissors. Where Explosives are good against Ballistics, Ballistics are good against Fire, and Fire is good against Explosives. The Command Vehicle can not attack but can move around to complete optional objectives (highlighted purple). Your units are highlighted blue and the enemies are highlighted red. You lose when your Command Vehicle is destroyed. The game mechanics are fairly easy to to figure out. When you go on "Campaign" Missions, your units get limited charges, health, and armor. And their status carry over from mission to mission, so you must be careful and strategic on how you spend your charges. If you lose a Mech on a mission, that's one less Mech you will be able to use on your next Mission. There are 2 resources that you can earn on your Campaign Runs, Scrap and Valor. Scraps are used to buy equipment upgrades to your Mech and Valor is spent on upgrading your Pilot Skills. When you're back at the Resistance Base, you can spend your resources and configure your equipment loadout and pilots. After each successful missions you can choose "boosters" that help you only for the duration of the Campaign. This game is very fun to play! The graphics and art styles are gorgeous. It has a lot of "BattleTech", "MechWarrior", "Command and Conquer", "Red Alert" vibes with a mix of "Into the Breach". In some ways, it feels like an "XCOM" but with Real Time Tactical (that you can Pause/Freeze). I highly recommend adding it to your Wishlist. Check out the demo yourself.
