King's Field 4, also known as King's Field: The Ancient City, is a dark fantasy RPG developed by FromSoftware and released on the Playstation 2 in 2001.

Thick atmosphere, complex level design, horrific monsters, brutal difficulty yielding a great sense of personal satisfaction, environmental storytelling, dark storylines, and slow deliberate action RPG combat are all elements associated with the Souls games and Bloodborne. But long before there was Demon's Souls, there was King's Field, the series that laid the groundwork for Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne.

Despite being the 4th game in the King's Field franchise, the story of the game generally stands alone from the other 3 titles which precede it.
