I wasn't sure what I was in for with Kingsgrave. It looked like the steam description, a gloomy Zeldaesque adventure RPG kind of game. It quickly became apparent that it owes a bit to Soulslike experiences too though, and i'm normally not much of a fan of that. Kingsgrave won me over though.
To find that fun I had to get through a number of really rough battle areas that about had me at wit's end, but ultimately it was pretty doable and I was rewarded with the discovery of a large area full of upgrade buildings. Once I was able to afford some of those upgrades, the whole tone of the game changed for me. The upgrades are powerful and well worth it, and very satisfying to use so far. So I can safely recommend Kingsgrave even if, like me, you maybe aren't 100% onboard with every direction the game has gone in. It's absolutely worth it.
