NOPEvember 2024 enters its final stretch! After that last game, we need a palate cleanser and Little Nightmares seems like a good idea for that.
After an eery little cutscene, we find ourselves in control of a tiny person/creature in a yellow rain coat. Alone in the room and equipped with nothing but a lighter to fight off the dark, we make our way to explore what lies beyond. With there being no narration or story being set up, it's a simple but effective premise: You know nothing, so you start exploring and have to deduce your next steps.
Little Nightmares feels a lot like Little Big Planet - which makes sense, because the developers, Tarsier Studios, also worked on that franchise. It's very much a jump and run game with puzzles thrown in for good measure. Oh, and heaps of visual story telling that gives you plenty to ponder but no outright answers.
Who is this character we're playing? Where are we? Why are we here?
And what are those little nightmares?
