NOPEvember 2024 is at the halfway point! And after we've been going down the dark, disturbing path of NOPE so far, let's brighten the mood again with a game that is literally all about saying "No"!
After a random but absolutely wonderful intro, Say No! More puts you in the role of a new intern - you can make your own character if you wanna - at a company where the word "no" effectively doesn't exist. Unable to speak up for yourself, you are resigned to your fate of being pushed around until you find a certain audio cassette...
Not enough people have played Say No! More and that's unfortunate, because it is unironically amazing. There's the colorful, retro-but-not-really art direction, the sweet music and fast-paced, simple and effective gameplay that resembles an on-rails shooter. You don't do a whole bunch, but what you do do feels great.
By itself, this could get boring after a while, but then you get hit by a story that just grabs you and doesn't let go until the credits roll. It's rare for a game to have no boring bits whatsoever - but Say No! More achieves that, while actually having a meaningful message and delivering it without ever feeling preachy.
If the game has any flaws, it's the lack of a sequel.
