Things are turning in our favor in Lords of the Realm 1, as soon the eastern portion of England will be under one banner. However, there is one giant army to the south, belonging to the Earl, that stands between me and dominance. As my kingdom grows and county management becomes more of a task, I continue to march on the war path. There is only one victory condition: total victory.

And then something strange happens that changes the entire tenor of the game.
