Let's Play Magical Diary (Part 6)
We fail somemore and continue to accumulate demerits and learn that some of the spell descriptions are flat out lies. Ellen's exam ended up not counting because she has a brain and can think without using magic. Why do I have this odd feeling this is a magic cult rather than a school?
Oh and I refused to do anything involving Donald cause Remillia get enough trouble as is by herself. Also another uneventful holiday but we do learn that Ellen was thinking of Remillia. Yay! Someone actually likes Remilla despite her waking up her roommate like a jerk!
So our next exam is to find the exit. Simple pass or fail like before. Note that failing gets you 10 demerits while a normal pass only gets you 5 merits. But, some exams have optional bonuses that will grant you more merits when you pass. For this one, I think if you do an efficient way of finding the exit you can get some bonus merits. But I only know of one spell (though its an easy one to get if you spread out your training) that may provide the bonus. Besides that, its just guess and check. Also about the messages on the floors and walls, they are made by students with the Inscription spell. They are not there to help you and there is no benefit for erasing them (also by way of Inscription).
The exam after winter break is the only combat in the game I think. There will always be a main path that is blocked by a Hodag. There are alot of ways to complete this one and getting the bonus can be easy if you have the right paths of magic (Remillia does not). I apologize for the reset but apparently the Freeze spell does no damage when it says it does. Speaking of damage, unless you buff yourself with Green magic or spend alot of time in the Gym, you can only take maybe 1-2 hits from the Hodag before it takes you down. With limited mana AND hp, experimenting can be difficult without save/loading. Rather unforgiving test for the unprepared.
A final note, the Bingo is not a scam but it has a low chance of success. If you do succeed, it can definitely help you get enough money to actually buy some of the higher items. I also suggest you do not go to the mall unless you need or have to (plot reasons). You need all the studying you can get and going to the mall is just a waste of money and resting restores stress more efficiently.
