Its a bit hard to describe this little game. Maybe RPS (Role Playing Simulation)? The game is mostly just text and dialogue with choices here and there but there is also some minor RPG or Spreedsheet style mechanics with the training and building up various stats to learn new spells which can be used in events and exams.

Its a nice mix of visual novel with some actual gameplay choice in it but it could do better with a little bit more gameplay in it (more choices mainly). Alot of the exams allow multiple solutions to accomplish the same task. Spells I thought useless I have found to have a specific use in certain dialogue events. Doing things at certain times or refusing to do something entirely can change the plot for your character significantly. Choices that actually do something in an RPG? Its a bit refreshing after seeing so many RPGs claim they have choice in it when it does not do anything at all (like the whole Mass Effect trilogy).

Anywho, this game is about playing a female student's first year in a magic school. Generally the only goal in the game is to make to the next year (sadly the game ends then). But there are numerous things one can do during the year. Get demerits and get expelled, get dentention, join a secret group, become Treasurer, get a boyfriend (or girlfriend), and so on.

Its a small game but the choices do allow for multiple playthroughs with different choices. Unfortunately in this Lets Play, our student is a bit of a misanthrope in the beginning but hopefully I can show off some of the magic mechanics and the like. Enjoy!
