Let's Play Mechwarrior 3 - Part 1
607Read this description fully if you're having trouble running the game.
My setup to get it working was as follows:
- I have windows 7. I don't know anything about windows 8 or 10, but I assume the process is similar.
- To obtain the game, just pirate it and mount it with daemon tools lite or some similar program. If you don't know how to use daemon tools, find a tutorial. If you're worried about consequences of pirating, don't be because they would sell the game if they cared, as it stands they don't, so its abandonware.
- install the game, patch it to 1.2
- have the mech.exe run in administrator and with windows 98 compatibility
- dgVoodoo2 from the first link below, I followed the instructions on that page and set it to 1920x1080 resolution.
- I downloaded "nvidia inspector" (because I have an nvidia graphics card) where I edited the profile of mech.exe and set the framerate cap to 60fps for the game. This solved most physics issues.
- The game still has some quirks. Music doesn't play (it is edited into the video), hotkeys require me to press the button many times to rebind, and sometimes the loading bar gets stuck (but minimizing the game and maximizing it with control alt delete for me fixes this, weirdly enough).

Be as specific as you can, as this is a complicated game to get running on modern operating systems and vague questions tell me you're lazy and wouldn't put the effort into getting this running anyway. Questions like "how do I run this on windows 10" for example will get ignored.
Most programs and solutions to your problems can be solved with a google search, try it.
