Let's Play Mega Man 2.5D - #5: Climatic Climb & Ending
In this part, I complete Wily Fortress Stages 4 through 5, battle the final bosses, and finish the main game.
Wily Fortress 4 is is the usual Robot Master rematch stage. Nothing new to write home about here.
The Wily Machine battle has two phases. In the first phase, you need to get on top of one of the fists using the Rush Coil or Rush Jet, and then destroy both of the eyes. The eyes will occasionally fire projectiles at you, and the fists will move around horizontally a bit, and smash the ground at particular intervals. In the second phase, you need to hit Wily in the top part of the mech. He'll be firing shots in arcs that will land at the last horizontal position you were at. The hands will behave the same way as in the first phase. It's a little bit harder than before, but not by much.
Wily Fortress 5 starts out as a nod to MM2 Wily Fortress 6, with the familiar stage aesthetic and gimmicks. After the halfway point, we rescue Dr. Light, and switch gears with the last tower climb segment before facing the Wily Capsule. The tower climb was about as difficult as the one with the Mecha Dragon. The main difficulty was due to the cracked platforms.
The Wily Capsule battle was relatively tame. Then again, now that I think about it, the Wily Machine fight wasn't that bad either. Wily has three attacks. The first attack is where he summons four orbs that will slowly orbit around his capsule clockwise for a short period, before sending them outwards. The second attack is where he will move to one side of the screen and drop a shower of sparks. Upon a spark hitting the ground, it'll split into two - one going left, and the other going right. The ladder makes this much easier to dodge as if you're on the other side of the building, you won't be harmed by the attack at all. The third attack is when he releases a spark orb that will
move across the screen twice, raining sparks downwards at certain intervals.
All of his attacks are telegraphed well, and aren't that hard to avoid. His weakness is the Pharaoh Shot. Once he's downed, the game's ending sequences will play out.
I'll be covering some extra characters and the challenge mode in the next part.
